Knowledge of climate change, carbon sequestration, and associated scientific literature. Knowledge of soil science scientific literature, and best management practices. Skill in communication and interpersonal relations.Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS ExcelDuties:Provides expertise and technical writing assistance in climate, carbon sequestration, and soil science resource areas to Klamath River Basin WCS (Wildfire Crisis Strategy) Landscape projects.Review, edit, refine NEPA specialist reports for climate, carbon sequestration, and soil resources associated with WCS projects.70%Consult with the contractor, other USFS interdisciplinary team members, and other USFS employees on work related to WCS projects.20%Provide climate, carbon sequestration, and soils resources support as needed associated with WCS projects.10%Other:Information awareness security training on-line.Travel Requirements: Travel will be required to access areas proposed for treatment in the field. Some travel to Klamath NF SO to meet with FS personnel and to discuss/download information.Overnight travel: One overnight per trip may be required.Air travel anticipated: Up to three trips may be required for site visits.Rental cars: Up to three trips may be required for site visits.Health and Safety Considerations: A Job Hazard Analysis will be required to be read and signed prior to initiating any field work. Personnel will be required to have a current drivers license to drive vehicles for the project.Required Safety Gear: Hard hat, leather boots (at least 8 height), long pants.Safety Gear Use: Personnel engaged in field work must wear a hard hat, leather boots and long pants when on field assignment.Physical requirements: The following activities can be expected. Walking on roads, hiking over obstacles, rocks, and down logs. Working during temperature extremes of very cold temps to very hot temps during summer months.
